The Russet Service Shoe was the polishable version of the Roughout Shoe, designed for garrison duty and to be worn with the Class A dress uniform. However, it was also worn in the field and in combat. It features a russet brown polishable leather with a toe cap.
Once again, we recommend that you buy a reproduction pair of boots. As stated earlier, those on a budget can purchase the Russet Shoes and will be able to wear them both in the field and with the Class As or Bs. However, you can expect to scuff them after a couple of events and the damage may not polish out very well. They typically run the same price as a pair of roughouts.
