The Associated Blast moves in to November offering new and exciting features. This month, the Grand Blast Logo Contest takes place where readers and fans can submit their very own artwork for consideration as the Blasts new official logo for the year 2003. The Blast also launches a new merchandising feature that allows browsers to buy official Associated Films and Blast merchandise through the folks at Cafepress.com.
A new contest is going to change the face of the Associated Blast! The folks here at the Blast are turning to you, our loyal fans, to come up with new and exciting artwork that will change the face of the Associated Blast for the new year of 2003.
"The old artwork, we found, is somewhat antiquated and doesn't quite represent the new and accelerated Blast dynamic," says a source at the Blast. "We could easily hire a professional come in and produce for us several versions for to choose from, but we decided that it would be would be expensive where as if we went to the fans, we could save several thousands of dollars and get something that will make the readers more intimate with the site."
The Great Blast Logo Contest rules and guidelines will be outlined both on the Blast Zone and in the article section of the Blast. Submission turn out is expected to be high.
"Oh, without a doubt there will be a huge response to this contest," the Editor of the Blast states at a press conference in Orange County. "They're getting a free t-shirt out of it!"
The new logo will be announced on November 30th and is planned to be aired on major broadcast networks.
"We like funny, we like futuristic, but more importantly, we like something that embodies what the Blast stands for. And that is classic, quality reporting with a new twist of modern media format that matches our day and age."
The new contest also comes at a time when Associated Films is taking a look at their own logo. One may have already noticed that there is a slight inconsistency logo to logo in the various films and projects the group has completed. In light of this, they have begun an internal crack down to take a look and find out what the true and pure form of the AssFilm logo actually is. The original concept, designed by James Soeffner, has been modified and altered so many times that it has caused some alarm in the group.
"I think it's odd that we've let it morph so many times without realizing where it actually came from," actor Anthony! Ardisone says. "I mean, we like new things, but this is kind of silly. We'll get to the bottom of it, though."
"The original artwork was somewhat basic," director James Soeffner tells us. "The bars actually came over the oc part of the name and weren't so wide."
But no one knows for sure, exactly. It's been seen with the name capitalized, all in caps, all in lower case, the bars long and skinny, short and fat. The font has changed as well. The group plans to come to a conclusion as to which logo version they will stick with by November 15th.
As for the Blast logo, the deadline for submissions is November 25th. Contact the folks here at the Blast for more information or help. Though the Associated Blast logo is anticipated to change, the hard hitting reporting and detailed research the Blast represents is no contest!

The Associated Blast Great Logo Contest!
The Associated Blast is announcing our first contest ever. You, the reader, are now able to have a chance to determine the future look of the Associated Blast logo! In a recent survey, the old Associated Blast logo was found to be outdated and less appealing to newer visitors. This is why it was removed from the new website altogether. The Blast felt the wiser choice would to be to turn to its fans and ask them what they would like to see the Blast represented as.
Contest Rules, Guidelines, and Information,
The Associated Blast is now accepting artwork of various media for the consideration of use as an official logo for the new year of 2003. The website is accepting computer files .jpg, .gif, .png, and .psp format. Files must be 200 pixels wide or larger, with the resolution value set to at least 100 pixels per inch. Scanned photos of drawings or paintings will be accepted, but will eventually be converted to a computer graphic through the means of photoshop enhancement or complete recreation. In which case, the integrity of colors, shape, and quality cannot be guaranteed.
The Blast will not be accepting any artwork that has sourced material that is copyrighted by a company other than Associated Blast or Associated Films. All artwork must be original or sourced from one of the Associated companies! Artwork with suggestive themes indicating sex, religious affiliation, inappropriate language, political statements, and extreme violence will not be considered and will be removed from the contest database. All artwork will be checked to ensure compliance of these rules before submission to the judging committee. The Associated Blast staff and committee reserve the right to refuse any artwork for any reason at any time.
Contestants are allowed to submit up to five artworks before the deadline is reached. Artwork submitted after the limit of five has been reached will no longer be accepted unless the staff is contacted and another, already submitted artwork is removed and replaced by the new. In the unlikely event of identical or grossly similar artworks, a chicken nugget face off will be decreed in which both contestants must eat as many chicken nuggets as they can within 30 minutes. In the event of a chicken nugget face off, you will provide the nuggets. The Associated Blast will not be held responsible for stomachs ruptured, abnormal stomach distension, eruptive diarrhea or any other medical side effects from such a contest.
The deadline to submit contest entries is November 25th, 2002. All artwork submitted should have the artist's name and at least one means of contacting that person. Artwork may be submitted electronically at Contest. Once submitted, you will receive a notification via e-mail when it has cleared through the checking staff and is being submitted to the judging committee. You will be notified in the event of victory on November 30th, 2002 via electronic mail or by another means if you implicate so in your submission. At this time, the Associated Blast is not accepting postal mail submissions.
All artwork submitted in this contest become the sole property of Associated Blast. Contestants agree that all rights will be forfeited to Associated Blast and that Associated Blast can use their submitted artwork, even if not victorious, as they see fit.
Winner of the Contest will receive a free Associated Blast t-shirt featuring the winning artwork submitted. Winning artwork will be displayed on the website www.associatedblast.com and will be used as the official logo representing the company, Associated Blast. Good luck to all!

The final results are in for the Associated Blast Great Logo Contest. The new artwork is now proudly displayed on the Associated Blast Control Center, which is the central hub in which browsers can decide how they want to view the Blast. The artwork was submitted anonymously and therefore the grandprize is forfeit. Honorable mention goes to Ben Johnson for submitting two pieces which were not used nor were we able to display because of a faulty transfer of the file. Thanks for playing!
