Boxing With Soeffner

Associated Films began principle photography on the new film by James Soeffner. The poject, called "Boxtrot," is a story concept by the director and is the first major AssFilms project since "Questioning The Answers." It also marks the first production of the new year.
"Boxtrot" is an exciting tale of a young man's purchase from a comic book ad that takes him and his friends to places unknown... and unexpected. The movie is planned to film all throughout the month of February, with post production wrapping by the end of March.
The film features actors Benjamin Johnson, Jocelyn Jazwiec, and Anthony! Ardisone. It is planned to be released for the 4th Show tentatively scheduled for the end of the year.
Though the production information isn't being released in detail, it's sure to be a Magic Box-Office Boffo this Fall!

Apel Strikes Back

Writer/Director Ralph Apel announced today more information on his project for 2005. The movie, with the working title: "Galactic Attack," is planned for production this summer, to start as soon as James Soeffner's film, "Boxtrot," has wrapped post-production. Apel hopes it will take Associated Films in a new direction and show their fans that the production company can handle alot more.

"I am making the picture," Apel stated in a letter issued directly to the Blast, "a little more serious." He goes on to add that the production will be more in-depth and very planned. Much work is being done during pre-production which will streamline the filming process and make for a quicker turn-around without sacrificing quality.

Though the story is kept under wraps for now, and is still being fleshed out, the story was decribed to us as an adventure movie with a buddy-comedy twist. It's a quest of friends searching for a difficult to find video game. However, the story will take itself more seriously than the description implies and we can expect alot more exciting adventures than slapstick jokes.

Apel is calling up some exciting Associated faces to the screen. Directors S. Dylan Kirkland and James Soeffner are being asked to step in front of the camera to be main characters, along with such names as Matthew Clark, Benjamin Johnson, and Jocelyn Jazwiec. Also attached the project is musical director Daniel Downing who will be supported by musician Jack Maher.

This exciting project will be huge step forward for Associated Films. The project is a fantastic story on a grand production scale. According to Ralph Apel, "I am sure that everyone at Associated Films will enjoy making this leap into a larger world."

Boxtrot Trots On

Filming presses on despite rain delays and scheduling conflicts for the new film by director James Soeffner. "Boxtrot," which pits for friends in a wild and magical journey, had begun filming very late in January. It is the first major Associated Films project to be filmed since "Questioning the Answers: A Story of Seth In Jeopardy!" which wrapped roughly this time last year. Since shooting began, the production faced several problems.
"Originally, we wanted to begin filming early January," comments actor Anthony! Ardisone, who was available on set to answer some questions. "But the rains pushed production till later that month. Then we started getting in to scheduling problems with me and some of the other actors."
But, problems aside, James Soeffner couldn't be more pleased with the shoot. "We've been getting a lot of good footage down. I think once we get passed this rain problem, we'll wrap and begin post-production in March. If we delay, we're not going to be able to finish the editing until end of April." And that is unacceptable to the team.
Pushing post-production to April would mean that the new Ralph Apel film will need to be set back several months, thus delaying a potential Fall 2005 show... Show #4.
"It's a dicey situation, comments Ardisone. "We're trying to get this [filming] done by the start of March. I leave for an overseas venture and will be gone the entire month. I don't want to delay Ralph's project... I really want to see a 4th Show by this Fall!
"But, I'm sure it will get done. We're very efficient people and we can make it happen. We've made it happen before. We can make it happen again."
And when it does happen, we fans are sure to be pleased!
